Merchant Case Study: MiFitness.

16 August 2024

The cover of a MiFitness Merchant Case Study on the success of their Buy Now Pay Later partnership with Float.

A no-brainer partnership, fit for success.

Roland Steyn, Owner & Founder of MiFitness International, shares insights on their partnership with Float.

Who is MiFitness?

MiFitness is a premier commercial gym equipment supplier, representing world-class fitness brands. This multifaceted company covers various domains, including home gym equipment, commercial gym equipment, kids’ playground equipment, servicing, and engineering. And just to keep things interesting, they also run two MiFitness gyms in Johannesburg.

The Challenge

MiFitness specialises in high-value gym equipment for B2B and B2C clients, with most of their sales occurring offline through customised invoicing. They needed a flexible payment solution that catered for that and posed zero financial risk to the company.

The Solution

MiFitness became one of Float’s earliest partners in 2021 for a few key reasons:

#1 MiFitness looked for a partner that assumed the risk of payment collection and provided guaranteed settlements. Float ticked both boxes.

#2 Given the high value of gym equipment, Float’s platform, which has no cap on order values, was a no-brainer.

#3 Float’s longer, monthly repayment periods made it a much more flexible solution for their customers. MiFitness was able to customise the platform to offer shoppers 2 to 6 interest-free monthly instalments.

#4 With the bulk of their B2B transactions requiring custom invoicing, Float’s omni-channel payment solution was a perfect match. It enabled payments to be processed online, in-store, via custom links, or directly on invoices.

The Results

Since partnering with Float in 2021, MiFitness has experienced significant improvements across all sales channels. Orders processed through Float are, on average, 132% larger than regular orders. By transferring the risk of collection to Float, MiFitness has been able to concentrate on its core operations – buying and selling gym equipment at great prices.
